Splashdown in 3 2 1

from $650.00

Shooting this hot air balloon festival in Steamboat Springs was just an amazing experience. The morning of the second day was socked in with dense fog that delayed the launch of the balloons. Once the sun rose high enough to light up the Steamboat valley, it cooked off the fog and revealed a bluebell day with little to no wind which made for reflective glass on this lake. Balloon pilots like to ‘splash their baskets’ and I was set up to capture this balloon descending slowly, splash and take off again. It was so calm it took over minute to travel from first to last image in this composition.
